Buru Rehab News

Buru Rehab’s Catterina Panizza recently graduated from the Ellendale Buru-Bunuba Trainee Program

Catterina Panizza recently graduated from the Ellendale Buru-Bunuba Trainee Program.

She enjoyed the challenge of learning to operate an articulated dump truck.

Led by Buru Rehab, the innovative trainee program is providing opportunities on Country while rehabilitating the former Ellendale diamond mine through the Abandoned Mines Program.

Catterina, who grew up in Broome, is a proud Bunuba woman. “My grandmother was born on Brooking Creek Station, near the Crossing Inn today. She was part of the Stolen Generation. Reconnecting to Country, family and culture is important to me. I am grateful to be working at Ellendale, it feels good to be working on Country, caring for Country.” Catterina is pictured with Buru Rehab trainer Mick Mallard.
