JD Oscar, a proud Bunuba Man, achieved five tickets of competency for machinery operations through last season’s Ellendale-Bunuba Trainee Program. 

This year he’s on track to achieve recognition of competency for grader operations and improve his land rehabilitation skills.

JD says the opportunity to learn the leading hand role with the Abandoned Mines Program’s Ellendale rehabilitation earthworks contractor Buru Rehab was a big step up for him.

“People helped me learn about the machines and rehabilitation last year and now I can help others. Looking after Country and working on Country is very important to me.”
