Buru Rehab has proudly developed an on-country, hands-on trainee program for local Indigenous people, delivered by local Indigenous trainers and assessors across our projects throughout the past 3 years.Â
Our On-Country Indigenous Trainee Program
The Buru Indigenous Trainee Program has seen the successful graduation of 16 trainees achieving a total of 53 nationally accredited tickets in Water Cart, Haul Truck, Grader, Dozer, Loader and Skid Steer operations
Key elements of the Buru Indigenous Trainee Program:

Mick Mallard
Mick Mallard is a proud Nudge man from Yamatji country.
Mick is a senior operator and trainer assessor with over 35 years’ experience in civil and mining. Mick’s passion is seeing the young people make a future.

Les Jones
Les Jones is a proud Bunuba man, with over 25 years operator, trainer and supervisor experience.
Les’s grandmother was born on Ellendale Station, near where our Ellendale Rehabilitation Earthworks project is currently being undertaken. For Les, training local indigenous people on site represents a return to country, to heal country.
